Sugar Executive Gunawan Jusuf

As the leader and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sugar Group Companies, the very accomplished Gunawan Jusuf has the duty of overseeing the operations of a diverse collection of companies that grow and refine sugar and produce a wide variety of sugar products that are among the most popular food products in all of Indonesia. It’s important to note that the Sugar Group Companies isn’t a single entity, but rather a collection of individual businesses that have to work toward a single profit goal. That means making sure that all of the companies within the group all work in sync. While they operate a great many plantations and refineries located throughout Indonesia, Gunawan Jusuf also oversees the operation of almost a dozen offices located all over the country.

Over the course of his career, Gunawan Jusuf has led his company to enormous growth when it comes to many products, not the least of which is Gulaku, a premium refined sugar product that has become a household name all over Indonesia. That’s not the only product, however, of course; just the most popular. He has done a great job of marketing the brands the Sugar Group Companies produces, but it is perhaps Gunawan Jusuf’s ability to make sure that every employee, subsidiary company and the various offices and plants are all working together that mark his greatest accomplishment as Sugar Group Companies’ leader.

Recently, Gunawan Jusuf decided to publish a book, which was entitled, “Blue Gold.” His book featured a frank discussion regarding the relative scarcity and the high value of water as our most important and valuable commodity. He wrote it because, he understands better than most how precious and valuable natural resources can be. Without it, we would all be dead, as would his company.
